A number of decisions taken to broad-base and upscale the Investor Education Initiatives
Secretary, Corporate Affairs, held the meeting of the Committee constituted by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for administration of the Investor Education and Protection Fund here yesterday.  Representatives from SEBI, RBI, Stock Exchanges, Investor Activists, Professionals, etc. attended the meeting. Following decisions were taken to broad-base and upscale the investor education initiatives:

·      The three professional Institutes - Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute of Company Secretaries of India and Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India – will be organizing 300 investor awareness camps specifically targeting the investors in smaller cities and semi-urban areas.  It has been planned to organize 120 camps in the first phase with each institute taking responsibility for 40 programmes.
·      Secretary, Corporate Affairs will be holding a separate meeting next week with the three Institutes to review the progress in the matter.
·       In addition, the field offices of the Ministry (RDs and ROCs) in will also be supplement the outreach effort by organizing topical workshops on investor issues in collaboration with the local trade and industry chambers, educational institutions and voluntary organizations.
·      The Committee also approved various proposals for undertaking programmes/activities by NGOs and Investor Associations spread throughout the country under a framework where technical as well as financial assistance is made available through the Investor Education and Protection Fund. 
·      It was also decided that the educational content available on the Ministry’s website, www.iepf.gov.in, will be made available in Hindi within next two months and other major regional languages thereafter.

     The Ministry would also be giving Awards for the best effort made for organizing the investor awareness programmes to NGOs and the Institutes.
